Spectacular Air Show at Fort Lauderdale

The Lauderdale Air Show will be an exciting collection of aerobatics, low altitude flyovers, parachute teams, and aircraft demonstrations. And it’s all free for viewing from the beach on April 20-21. There are seats in special areas that can be purchased by the big spenders and those include a variety of amenities in addition to prime viewing locations.

Blues at the Winery Returns to Clermont

If sippin’ and listenin’ is something you enjoy, head for the Lakeridge Winery and Vineyards in Clermont on April 13 and 14 where you will enjoy the annual Blues at the Winery. A $2 donation includes live entertainment, winery tours and wine tasting. A variety of food as well as Lakeridge wine, beer, and soft drinks will be available for purchase. Enjoy the music of Blue Train on Saturday and the Selwyn Birchwood Band on Sunday. Beautiful Bobby Blackmon & the B3 Blues Band appear both days.

St. Petersburg Hosts Garden Show

“Welcome to Our Garden,” will be presented by the Garden Club of St. Petersburg from 9am to 4pm on April 27 and from 9am to 3pm on April 28 in Walter Fuller Park. Held in conjunction with the Green Thumb Festival, the show also features a Children’s Plant Fair.

Art and Foliage Festival in Apopka

The Apopka Woman’s Club is sponsoring the 52nd Art and Foliage Festival on April 27-28 at Kit Land Nelson Park in Apopka. This two-day event features juried artists and crafters, plant and nursery displays, children’s activities, live entertainment and food vendors. Proceeds from the events support numerous community agencies and activities. The hours are 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday. Apopka is only 25 minutes from Disney World via SR 429.

Seminole County Celebrates 100 Years

Seminole County will be 100 years old on April 25 and has been celebrating with lots of special events this year. The next big activity is the Seminole County Centennial Festival to be held on Saturday, April 20, from 10am to 5pm at the Five Points Complex in Sanford.  Admisssion is free for this special day of exhibits, music, children’s activities, food trucks, and displays.

Robert Phillips to Perform at Bok Tower Gardens

Robert Phillips will be featured in the next “Live at the Gardens” concert at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales  The concert is on Saturday, April 13, at 7:30pm. Phillips, a classical guitarist, will present a program of music from Spain and Latin America in the Visitor Center. Admission is $25 per person.

Rock N Rib Fest in Palm Coast

The Rock n Rib Fest and Carnival in Palm Coast will be highlighted by the Backyard BBQ Contest offering a prize of $5,000. The event on April 12 and 13 also includes the Texaco Country Showdown battle of the bands on Friday evening, The Long Run Eagles Tribute Concert at 7pm Saturday, music on-stage all weekend, great barbeque, car show, a carnival all weekend, and a fireworks finale on Saturday night. Admission in $3, free for children 12 and under. Free parking is provided.

Fancy Flea Vintage Home & Garden Market

Downtown Lakeland will be the site of an upscale flea market with a fancy name on Saturday, April 6. According the the website, visitcentralflorida.org, the Fancy Flea Vintage Home & Garden Show features “shabby chic decor, antiques, vintage clothing & jewelry, industrial chic, repurposed finds, original art, cottage glam, garden art and homemade sweets.” Admission is free and the events runs from 9am to 4pm.

Two Special Concerts at the Garden Theatre

The Garden Theatre in Winter Garden is the place to be on Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6. “Jessica D and the Four Boys from Jersey” are in concert Friday at 8pm with a program of classic pop made famous by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. On Saturday at 7 and 9pm, John Charles presents “Curious, Serious, Delirious,” a program of music and comedy.

The Circus Museums at the Ringling Museum of Art

One of the most interesting displays at the John and Mabel Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota is the Circus Museums. Begun in 1948, the Circus Museums document the history of the American circus through memorabilia and artifacts from the Ringling family circus, John Ringling as the Circus King, and the film, “The Greatest Show on Earth.” Also on display is the Wisconsin, the Ringling’s 1905 private rail car and the world’s largest miniature circus.
