Off the Beaten Path – Solomon’s Castle

Solomon’s Castle, the whimsical home of artist and sculptor Howard Solomon, will be one of the most unusual places you have ever visited. Located in Ona – a little over an hour’s ride from Davenport – the grounds include a 12,000 square foot, three-story “castle” that is covered with discarded aluminum printing plates, gardens with unusual sculptures, and a restaurant, “Boat in the Moat” that is a 60-foot replica of a 16th century Portuguese Galleon. It’s well worth the trip.
