St. Petersburg Hosts Garden Show

“Welcome to Our Garden,” will be presented by the Garden Club of St. Petersburg from 9am to 4pm on April 27 and from 9am to 3pm on April 28 in Walter Fuller Park. Held in conjunction with the Green Thumb Festival, the show also features a Children’s Plant Fair.

Land of Oz Garden is Open at Epcot

The Land of Oz Garden, one of the highlights of the upcoming Flower and Garden show, is already open at Epcot. At one-third of an acre, the garden is the largest ever created for the festival. The theme of the area is “Oz The Great and Powerful,” a Disney film coming to theaters March 8. a yellow-brick-road will lead youngsters to an interactive play area with carnival-style games. A shaded area with comfortable seating is available for parents. The 2013 International Flower and Garden Festival opens March 6 through May 19.

Disney’s Flower and Garden Festival will add Garden Marketplaces featuring special tastings and beverages around the World Showcase. Among the offerings are Barbecue and Brews at the American Pavilion, Lotus House at China, L’Orangerie at France, Bauernmarket at Germany, Primavera Kitchen at Italy, Hanami at Japan, Jardin de Fiestas at Mexico, Taste of Marrakesh at Morocco, and The Cottage at United Kingdom. Disney’s Flower & Garden Show Adds Food and Drink

The International Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot will introduce Garden Marketplaces this year. A variety of food and drink kiosks will be added to the festivities in the fashion of the Food and Wine Festival. Among the new features will be a Smokehouse Barbecue and Brew at the American Adventure, Primavera Kitchen in the Italy pavilion, Hanami at the Japan pavilion, and Florida Fresh in the World Showcase Promenade. St. Petersburg’s Sunken Gardens

Sunken Gardens, a 100-year-old botanical paradise in St. Petersburg, offers a unique display of over 50,000 tropical plants and flowers. In 1903 a local plumber drained a lake, created a garden and began charging a nickel in the early 1920s when the garden became such a popular place to visit. His family ran the attraction for three generations before it was purchased by the city. The Gardens are open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4:30pm and Sunday from noon to 4pm. Admission is $8, $6 for those over 55 and $4 for children ages 2 to 11.

Free Day at the Leu Gardens in Orlando

Beginning in 2013, the Harry P. Leu Gardens in Orlando will offer free admission on the first Monday of each month. Regular tickets will increase to $10 for adults, $3 for children in grades k-12, and free for children 4 and younger.http://www.leugardens.org/
