A unique look at what takes place behind the scenes at Universal is the theme of a year-long display at the Orange County Regional History Center. The exhibit, “A Year in the Life: Backstage to Onstage at Universal Orlando Resort,” will change with each season at park to include events such as Mardi Gras, Halloween Horror Nights, Macy’s Holiday Parade, Mannheim Steamroller, the Cinematic Spectacular lagoon show, and the Superstar Parade. The exhibit opens January 26 and will continue through January 5, 2014. http://www.thehistorycenter.org/exhibits/upcoming

Major additions, exhibits and rides are about to make their debut. SeaWorld Orlando’s new ride “Antarctica – Empire of the Penguin” is planned for a spring opening. “Transformers: The Ride – 3D” is expected this summer at Universal Studios and the Atlantis Exhibit at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will open in July. Fun Spot USA will have three new thrill rides this summer – White Lightening and Freedom Fighter roller coasters and Skycoaster, a 250-foot harnessed swing. Princess Fairytale Hall – a meet-and-greet center – in Disney’s Magic Kingdom is planned for this year with no date announced as yet.

In a promotional video on YouTube, the creative director of Universal Studios Hollywood said, “For fans of the series, we’re going to put you in the footsteps of the characters in the show”. “You’re going to have to try and survive the zombie apopcalypse.” Halloween Horror Nights begin September 21.
